HIHI DADA

Hello! I’m Ando, a service staff member at Machiyado Ichiryu.

This time, I’d like to introduce you to an interesting space that I came across recently.

These works were born in the Hida forests and created by the hands of HIDA’s artisans.

These are symmetrical and asymmetrical chairs.

The symmetrical chair is HIHI, and the asymmetrical chair is DADA.

The two chairs are a pair like brother and sister, and their familiar presence was thought to make people feel a sense of closeness to them, like family or friends.

Although it has a very simple appearance, this chair is the result of an accumulation of “casual yet amazing” workmanship by Hida craftsmen.

*Surrounding it are mysterious objects that are not intended to be sat on; they are made by disassembling and reconstructing the constituent parts of HIHI and DADA.
